Fiber & coax splicing

Every splicing job closes with splice records, OTDR and power meter results on fiber, and as-built redlines. Crews Waldron manages fusion splice ribbon and loose tube fiber and splice hardline and drop coax, on new build and on plant already carrying traffic. Waldron started in 1982 splicing coax for cable operators, and coax work runs alongside fiber today.

Overview

Every splice is tested and recorded before handover.

Crews Waldron manages splice ribbon and loose tube for MSOs, carriers, municipalities and co-ops (new build, cut-over and restoration), and every job closes with test results and as-built redlines.

Fiber splicing

Fiber splicing scope.

Fusion splicing

Single fiber and mass fusion splicing on new and in-service cable.

Ribbon and loose tube

Crews we manage splice both ribbon and loose tube cable.

Cabinet and closure builds

Splice cases, cabinets and pedestals built out and labelled.

OTDR and power meter testing

Spans tested end to end, with traces retained for handover.

Documentation and as-builts

Test results and redlines delivered in a form your records group can file.

Emergency restoration

Cut fiber located, spliced and returned to service.

Coax splicing

Coax splicing for HFC plant.

Waldron started in 1982 splicing coax for cable operators building out metro Atlanta. Today crews we manage take hardline and drop work for MSOs, operators, municipalities and co-ops, on new placement and on plant that is already carrying traffic.

Hardline splicing

Trunk and distribution splicing on live and new coaxial plant.

Connectorization

Connector installation and replacement on hardline and drop cable.

Drop and service work

Service drop placement, repair and replacement.

Plant repair

Damaged and failing coax located, cut in and returned to service.

Common questions

Common questions.

Do you splice both ribbon and loose tube fiber?

Yes. Subcontract crews that Waldron manages handle both cable constructions (mass fusion splicing for ribbon and single fiber splicing for loose tube) on new build and on in-service cable.

Do you provide test results and as-builts?

Yes. Fiber spans are tested with OTDR and power meter, and jobs close with test results and as-built redlines. Documentation is part of the handover.

Do you still splice coaxial plant, or only fiber?

Both. Coax splicing is an active service line, and fiber and coax crews are both managed from Marietta, Georgia.

Who do you do coax splicing for?

MSOs and cable operators, carriers, municipalities, and electric co-operatives. Most of our coax work is on existing HFC plant.
