Electric membership cooperatives
On cooperative-owned poles, Waldron runs the pole loading and NESC clearance review in house, then manages the crews that frame, transfer, place and splice the fiber. Co-op routes run mostly on poles the co-op owns, laid out for electricity first.
Overview
Make-ready and fiber construction on co-op poles.
Waldron engineers make-ready, pole loading and structural analysis in house, and manages the crews for aerial placement, boring, and both fiber and coax splicing. We work with your engineering staff, and the documentation comes back in a form your own operations group can maintain from.
What we carry
Scope of the work.
Make-ready on owned poles
Pole loading and structural analysis, clearance and NESC review, and the framing and transfers that make the pole ready to carry fiber.
Long rural runs
Aerial placement across territory, with boring for road, creek and driveway crossings where aerial does not make sense.
Backbone and distribution splicing
Fusion splicing for ribbon and loose tube, cabinet and pedestal builds, OTDR testing and documented handover.
Substation and hut connectivity
Fiber into substations, huts and control points.
Storm restoration
Storm restoration on fiber that shares the co-op's poles.
Common questions
Common questions.
Do you perform make-ready on cooperative-owned poles?
Yes. Pole loading, structural analysis and NESC clearance review are done in house. Framing and transfers are done by subcontract crews that Waldron manages.
Can you build both the backbone and the distribution plant?
Yes. Crews Waldron manages place and splice both, aerial and underground, and Waldron can carry the full scope from route design through as-builts.
Do you support co-op fiber-to-the-home programs?
Yes. Waldron engineers the outside plant in house and manages the crews for placement, splicing and maintenance. Send the territory and the target take rate and we will tell you what the plant side takes.
Will you maintain the plant after construction?
Yes. Contract maintenance agreements cover damage repair and storm restoration on plant already carrying traffic.
