Carriers, ISPs & wholesale fiber
Backbone, middle mile and last mile routes come back from Waldron with OTDR traces, power meter results, splice records and as-built redlines. Waldron engineers each route in house and manages the crews that place, bore, splice and test it.
Overview
Every route is handed over with OTDR traces, splice records and as-built redlines.
Waldron engineers in house and manages the crews for the whole chain (route design and make-ready, permitting, aerial and buried placement, directional boring, fusion splicing, OTDR testing and as-built handover), so one company answers for the route from design to handover.
We work as prime on complete routes and as a specialty subcontractor to general contractors and program managers running larger civil programs. Either way, Waldron manages the crews doing the splicing and placement.
What we carry
Scope of the work.
Route engineering
OSP route design, make-ready, pole loading and structural analysis, permitting carried through approval, and as-built drafting.
Aerial placement
Strand and lash, overlash on existing plant, pole framing and transfers.
Directional boring & trenching
Road, rail and waterway crossings, conduit and vault systems, and restoration behind the work.
High-count fusion splicing
Ribbon and loose tube, cabinet, hut and pedestal builds, and splice cases documented to the fiber.
Test & turn-up documentation
OTDR traces, power meter results and as-built redlines delivered in the format your engineering group files.
Emergency restoration
Cut and outage response across the Southeast footprint.
Common questions
Common questions.
Who does the fiber placement and splicing?
Route engineering is done in house. Aerial and buried placement, boring and fusion splicing are done by crews that Waldron manages.
What documentation do you deliver at turn-up?
OTDR traces, power meter test results, splice records and as-built redlines, delivered in the format the customer’s engineering group files.
Will you work as a subcontractor to our general contractor?
Yes. Waldron runs as a specialty outside plant subcontractor on larger civil and utility programs, and as prime on complete routes.
What fiber counts are you set up for?
Crews Waldron manages splice both ribbon and loose tube construction. Send the specific counts and cable types with your scope and the office will confirm capacity directly.
